Colorado State strikes first
For the fifth game in a row, the Colorado State Rams were fast out of the gate and scored the first goal of the contest. After securing a ground ball, Jack Rego (#22) drew a slide and moved the ball upfield for midfielder Adyn Cover (#1) who buried a step-down shot.
The Eagles answered fairly quickly in transition when long-stick midfielder James Lapsley scored on the run. The Boston College lacrosse team would then add two more goals, before attackman Tanner Marsh (#91) would feed Rego to score for his second point on consecutive scoring plays.

The Rams would open up the second quarter by tying the contest with a dodge from X and a quick shot from attackman Lochlan Rogers (#7). The tie would be broken shortly after with a goal by Kevin Dolan (#3).
After mishandling a behind-the-back feed from Rogers, midfielder Ryan Menard (#53) would quickly scoop up the ground ball and navigate the crease to score a shovel shot from a tough angle.
The tie would yet again be broken, with Boston College scoring another goal to go into halftime with a one-goal lead.
Halftime CSU 4 || BC 5
The Eagles would build their lead to start the third quarter with a goal by Colin Whitmore (#39).
It was the Rams turn to score, this time with midfielder Cullen Gorman (#44) passing to Marsh, who picked his corner and hit his target. The back-and-forth theme continued with an answer from the Eagles’ midfielder Thomas Greenhaw (#8), scoring his second goal of the contest. Boston College would tally one more on a shot that initially looked to be a save, but unfortunately trickled into the net.
Menard would go on to score again for the Rams, quickly securing a deflected pass and finishing on the doorstep. The Eagles would answer again with a goal from attackman Kyle Pagnani (#10), his second on the night. Another goal came shortly after, giving Boston College a significant lead heading into the fourth quarter.
End of Third Quarter CSU 6 || BC 10
Greenhaw would secure a hat trick to open the fourth quarter, widening Boston College’s lead. Attacking from behind the cage, Cover would answer by scoring his second goal of the game. Unfortunately, Whitmore also had his sights on his second goal of the game for Boston and would deliver. The Rams would continue to keep the contest within reach via Menard getting a hat trick of his own, scoring from the heart of the defense on a feed from Cover.
Boston would go on to score again, as would the Colorado State. Cover would get his second assist in as many scoring plays by taking the top off the defense with a pass to Rogers, who was able to blow by the scrambling defense and go top shelf. The Rams hadn’t scored back-to-back goals since the first intermission, but were able to do so when Rego scored a quick-stick goal on a feed from Rogers, giving both players three points on the night.
This momentum was almost immediately capped, as Boston College would get a goal from their faceoff specialist John Mallinson (#25) who won a faceoff and came straight down the middle to score. Beau Chouinard (#4) would tack on another for his second of the contest, then Boston would score one final goal before the game ended.

Key Takeaways for the Rams
The Rams faceoff teams won a substantial majority of battles, lead by faceoff specialist Max Hall (#14), along with long-stick midfielders Kaden Rahne (#20) and Danny Schneider (#3).
Colorado State’s goalie Chuck Bibaud (#33) was another reason that this contest stayed close, though late in the game Boston’s offensive players were getting too close to the cage, eventually finding ways to score consistently.
While the defense for Colorado State had great moments, it also had some miscues that shifted the momentum away from the Rams, including ill-timed penalties that the Eagles made sure to capitalize on.
However, CSU will have to put this game on the backburner for now, as they have a quick turnaround and play the Arizona State Sundevils tomorrow afternoon.
