Colorado State Rams (1-2) @ #9 Texas Christian Horned Frogs (4-0)
11:00 a.m. MT | Texas Christian University | Watch:
The Colorado State lacrosse team suffered a loss on Friday to the Texas Longhorns and look to bounce back on the road against the Horned Frogs, who are undefeated on the season.
Keys on the Road
In their previous two contests, the Rams scored first before regressing during the first quarter and trailing the remainder of the game. Against TCU, they’ll likely be looking to reverse course on their slow starts to avoid playing against the clock in the fourth quarter. In both losses, Colorado State kept pace and showed that they possess the ability to close the score gap and generate momentum.
Players to Watch
After struggling in the game against Cal at the faceoff X, Colorado State turned things around drastically against Texas. While every Ram who faced off won the majority of their matchups, Colt Busta shined by going 13-5 (72%), and will look to continue that success against the Horned Frogs.
Offensively, Ryan Menard has contributed points in every matchup, and been instrumental in successful clears and unsettled situations in the middle of the field. Menard will undoubtedly look to continue asserting his role as a reliable option against TCU.
On the defensive side of the ball, Rams long-stick midfielder Kaden Rahne made an impact against the Longhorns offense. He also contributed to Colorado State’s dominant faceoff performance and will be poised to do the same during Sunday’s matchup.
The Horned Frogs have relied heavily on their midfielders for scoring, specifically Mac Rodvold and Sean Leahy, with 15 and 12 points respectively. On the opposite side of the ball, defenseman Jake Viteznik leads TCU with 12 caused turnovers and 9 ground balls, anchoring the defensive unit.
Texas Christian on the Field
The Horned Frogs pulled away from the University of Colorado Buffs in their most recent matchup on the 27th of February, winning 14-8 and improving their overall record to 4-0.
Texas Christian was ranked #9 in the most recent MCLA Lacrosse Poll, and will look to improve upon that in Sunday’s contest.
