Second Quarter Shutout
Colorado State pushed forward into the next chapter of their season with a statement win, taking down No. 15 Cal Poly 13-9.
After a challenging first quarter that allowed six goals, Colorado State flipped the momentum of the game and never looked back. A dominant second quarter proved to be CSU’s turning point, where they held Cal Poly scoreless, building a lead they would maintain for the rest of the game.
At the faceoff X, Colorado State had an edge, winning 65% of faceoffs helping to control possession throughout the contest.
In the game, the Rams defense delivered, with 15 successful defensive possessions, an impressive feat as they remained determined for the game to be theirs. CSU also completed 16 successful clears to remain steady while limiting mistakes with just seven turnovers.
Leading the offense was midfielder Ryan Menard (#53) tallying four goals and two assists. His performance earned him the Colorado State Player of the Game handed to him by attacker Jack Rego (#22).
With the victory, the Rams secured their third win of the season, now turning their focus to Sunday. The team will face Boise State as they pursue a double-win weekend.

To tie up the game, freshman midfielder Cullen Gorman (#44) found the net through a bounce shot at 2:43.

After holding Cal Poly to no goals in the second, the Rams went on a run.
At 14:41 Rego retook the lead off a feed from Menard.

Attacker Lochlan Rogers (#7) opened the second half scoring a goal at 12:33.
Rego added his fifth goal at 8:35 off an assist from midfielder Ethan Scheik (#17).
