A Four-Quarter Fight
CSU proved dominance at the faceoff X, winning 20 of 27 attempts. While San Diego found success in attacking the left side during scoring runs, the Rams continued to hold their own and respond to each goal.
Despite multiple pushes by the Rams, the Aztecs answered each time, finishing the game with a 14-13 win.

Faceoff specialist Max Hall (#14) opened the contest with a win at the X to set an early tone for Colorado.
CSU struck first with a goal from attacker Tanner Marsh (#91), assisted by midfielder Mason Daly (#18).
At 10:06, attacker Brandon Krause (#10) found the net off an assist from midfielder Ethan Scheik (#17).
San Diego responded with a goal at 5:10, but the Rams midfielder Jimmy Ponicki (#34) answered at 4:06, extending the lead until the end of the quarter.

Q1 CSU 3 || SDSU 1
Heading into the second quarter, attacker Jack Rego (#22) added another to the Rams’ lead at 14:30 off an assist from Marsh.
The Aztecs found their way during the second quarter, going on a scoring run at 10:37 and 9:29, before adding four more goals to control the game.
With just 1:03 left in the quarter, attacker Lochlan Rogers (#7) stopped the scoring run and gained another point closer to the Aztecs’ lead.
Q2 CSU 5 || SDSU 7
Two early goals by San Diego extended their lead until at 12:36 midfielder Ryan Menard (#53) found the net off an assist from Ponicki followed by Krause in the alley at 9:58 to close the gap.

Rogers added another goal at 6:37 after a transition play from the back of the field by LSM Kaden Rahne (#20) and Daly.

Q3 CSU 8 || SDSU 9
Heading into the final quarter, San Diego got the first goal again at 10:24.
With less than three seconds on the shot clock, Rogers rocketed a shot into the net completing his hat trick at 9:02 off an assist from Menard.

At 5:06 San Diego added another, during a man-up opportunity and an assist by Ponicki to Marsh at 3:16 kept CSU within one.

San Diego found a way to extend their lead with less than three minutes left in the game.
Scheik closed out scoring for the Rams.
