Game Recap – CSU 21, Fort Lewis 8

For the first time in almost two years, the Colorado State Rams and the Fort Lewis Skyhawks met on the lacrosse field. For each of the last two seasons, the game had been snowed out in Durango, so this year, FLC came to Fort Collins to take on the #5 Rams.

After two tough victories on consecutive days, the Colorado State Rams were faced with the difficult task of playing the #1 team in the country on Sunday afternoon. CSU was clearly mentally and physically drained after their tough victory against the University of Michigan and let the Sonoma State Cossacks control most of the action before finally coming back and winning 8-6.

In a game that matched up two teams who met in St. Louis last year, the Colorado State Rams were able to keep the Michigan Wolverines’ high powered attack under check and win a game in a hostile environment by a score of 11-8.

The Colorado State Rams started their tough three game swing in Michigan on Friday night with a hard fought victory over #16 Texas.
Game Recap – CSU 17, CU 7

The #2 ranked Colorado State Rams welcomed #13 Colorado into Fort Collins under unusually sunny skies and relatively warm weather on Saturday. The game was close early, but the Rams methodically picked away at the Buffs and won going away, 17-6 in a game that was very tightly officiated.

#2 Colorado State Rams kicked off their season under beautiful sunny skies in Golden, CO as they took on the Colorado School of Mines today. The Rams jumped all over the Orediggers early, leading by scores of 10-0 at the end of the first and 14-1 at the end of the first half as they cruised to a 27-3 victory.

For the first time in several years, the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Lacrosse League Championship trophy would stay in the state of Colorado. With Brigham Young defeated by Colorado State 17-16 in thrilling fashion on Friday, the University of Colorado, who defeated Fort Lewis 23-6, would take on Colorado State in the RMILL Championship game. In a game marred by a lightning storm, the Rams were able to jump out to an early lead and hold on for a 21-15 win for their first RMILL Championship under coach Flip Naumburg. Jared Katz, who missed the last game against CU, started the scoring early with an unassisted goal at 14:00.
Game Recap – CSU 17 BYU 16

In what could arguably be called the most exciting game of the year, the #4 ranked Colorado State Rams and the #5 ranked Brigham Young Cougars squared off in a rematch of CSUís 21-11 win earlier this month. This game proved to be much more competitive as the Rams had to come back from five down to pull out a thrilling 17-16 victory.

In a game filled with hard hits and big emotion, the Colorado State Rams saw their dreams of St. Louis take a sudden turn for the worse with a tough 16-13 loss to the #13 ranked Colorado Buffaloes. The Buffs took advantage of some key injuries to the Rams as they utilized some of the best outside shooting that CSU had seen up to now. Starting goaltender Cale Vanvelkinburgh sat out the game with a broken hand sustained in last weekís game against BYU and speedster midfielder Jared Katz missed the game due to family reasons.

Usually when the Colorado State Rams and Brigham Young University Cougars get together in any sport, the sparks fly and both teams play their best. However on a sunny spring afternoon in Fort Collins, Colorado, the #5 ranked Rams got back their old fire and put a convincing 21-11 spanking on the #4 ranked Cougars.
