December 31, 2015 (Fort Collins, CO) – The Colorado State University Men’s Lacrosse Team and the CSU Lacrosse Alumni Association (CSULAA) are pleased to announce that Ted Fifield has been named the acting Head Coach of the CSU Men’s Lacrosse team for the 2016 season. Brandon Hulett will join Coach Fifield as the Offensive Coordinator and Head Assistant Coach. Both Coach Fifield and Coach Hulett have been and will continue to be instrumental in the team’s preparation for the 2016 season after taking the reins midway through the fall season.
“Colorado State Lacrosse has a tremendous tradition of winning and Coach Fifield gives the program the best opportunity to continue that tradition,” said CSULAA President, Garrett Fitzgerald. “Coach Fifield brings organizational leadership from his extensive lacrosse background and at the MCLA level, those are invaluable skills. Combining Coach Fifield’s skill set with Coach Hulett’s high level of tactical lacrosse acumen, the CSULAA fully expects CSU Lacrosse to return to and make a significant run at the MCLA National Championship,” continued Fitzgerald.
Coaches Fifield and Hulett give players a strong leadership and coaching presence on the field, a necessity from an organizational standpoint as the program moves into the spring 2016 season this January. This, coupled with a commitment to excellence in academics and in character offers the team the guidance needed to perform successfully on and off field this season as student athletes. Their continued buy-in to the three core values of CSU Lacrosse of Family, Hard Work, and Greatness, have and will continue to provide steady direction for the coming season as we look towards another run through the MCLA National ranks.
“Though we have faced much as a program this off-season, we are confident as a student-leadership group and team that Coaches Fifield and Hulett, as acting Head Coach and Head Assistant Coach, will give, as they have all of Fall, CSU Lacrosse the best opportunity to succeed as we look towards the regular season” said Team President, Jared Wade. “We cannot thank the CSU Lacrosse Alumni Association and all CSU Lacrosse Family enough for their continued support and administration of this coaching search, and look forward to the opportunity to get back after it as a family this spring,” ended Jake Bender, current Team Vice-President.
Coach Fifield brings a defensive background, having been the defensive coordinator for the University of Wisconsin-Madison men’s lacrosse team from 2012-2014. Prior to his time at the University of Wisconsin, Coach Fifield served as the defensive coordinator for the Rock Canyon High School men’s varsity lacrosse team from 2010-2012. “Lacrosse has been a massive part of my life since I was very young, and I’ve aspired to become the head coach of a collegiate team for a long time now. The opportunity to lead the outstanding young men at Colorado State is a dream come true,” said Fifield. “Colorado State Lacrosse has enjoyed tremendous success in the past, and I look forward to the challenge of continuing that tradition. My aim is to provide the environment and guidance necessary for our players to achieve greatness, both on and off the field.”
