Jared Wade is the backbone of CSU Lacrosse. Wade’s passion and hard work have earned him the dual role of captain and team president.
“Off the field Jared does so many things that go unnoticed by most of his teammates. Essentially, this program wouldn’t work without him.” said head coach Ted Fifield.
Wade holds the weight of 63 teammates on his shoulders, and as a graduating senior he wouldn’t want it any other way.
“We’re together 30 hours a week with our teammates. If there is anything that I am going to miss the most it would be the time spent with my brothers.” said Wade.
The Rams will be led on defense by All-America Honorable Mention Peter Hull. Hull is a junior this year, and every time he steps on the field he makes a statement that he is among the best defenders in the MCLA.
“Pete is the foundation of the defense. He acts as a second coach on the field and brings an intensity that his teammates can match up to.” said coach Fifield.
Hull feels confident his defense is prepared to lockdown the opposition during the Ram’s season opening games against 8 ranked Arizona and 9 ranked Grand Canyon on February 26th and 28th.
Senior attackman Jake Johnson leads the Ram’s offensive unit. Johnson leads by example and ensures that his teammates are working hard to create scoring opportunities at all times.
“Johnson does the little things right. He makes the right passes [and] the right decisions. He guides the offense and provides the offense with the foundation for what they need to be successful.” said coach Fifield.
The Rams will depart campus on Thursday morning to take on the Arizona Laxcats and Grand Canyon Lopes down in the desert. Coach Fifield and his captains have the team focused on the same thing leading into these games: Do the little things right, every time.
“I expect everyone to focus on the little things and have the mindset to play for each other and not just to play good enough to beat the team in front of us.” said Johnson.
This weekend is the beginning of a 13-game regular season for the Rams. The team plans to return to Fort Collins late Sunday night with two great wins and a positive start to the season.
