Matthew Lalli
Matthew Lalli brings extensive experience as a goalie, defensive coach, and player-development specialist at the collegiate, club, and high school levels. A former NCAA Division II starting goalie and member of the Ireland Lacrosse National Team, Lalli combines firsthand experience in the crease with a teaching-first approach to goalie development, defensive communication, and team defensive systems.
Lalli spent three years with Lou Fusz Athletic Lacrosse in St. Louis, where he served as Director of the club’s Goalie Academy and Head Coach of its U15 and U17 programs. He developed position-specific curriculum for goalies across the program, focusing on fundamentals including stance and hand position, arc and depth, footwork, save selection, clearing decisions, and communication from the crease. He also organized and staffed the club’s goalie camps and guided players through practices, film sessions, and tournament competition in front of college recruiters.
At the collegiate level, Lalli served as a Volunteer Assistant Coach at Maryville University, assisting with defensive preparation, scouting, goalie development, and individual position work within the NCAA Division II program. Earlier in his coaching career, he served as Head JV Coach and Associate Defensive Coordinator at All Saints Academy, where he helped install varsity defensive systems including slide packages, off-ball rotations, man-down units, and ride and clear responsibilities.
Before transitioning fully into coaching, Lalli was a four-year varsity goalie at Florida Southern College, where he was a senior captain, two-time team MVP, and Scholar All-American. He also competed professionally with the Florida Launch of Major League Lacrosse and has represented Ireland at the international level.
Lalli holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Florida Southern College and an MBA with a concentration in Digital Marketing from McKendree University. His background in athletics, recruiting, communications, and program operations further complements his approach to player development and building strong, organized lacrosse programs.
