Groundhog Day has already come and gone.  With all the global warming and the general lack of climate predictability, doesn’t this become a holiday of epically “stupid” proportion?

SUPERBOWL SUNDAY – THE SUNDAY HOLIDAY

They are already playing lacrosse for real on the Left Coast.  UCSB and Cal Poly already have actual games under their belts.  I’m still sitting here trying to figure out something close to a roster list for us with all the right names, and, meanwhile I’m also waiting for all the proverbial ‘shoes’ of change to finish dropping.  Suffice it to say that I/we are working on all of it, but many of our on-the-field playing packages and methods are far from being in place, let alone good working order.

I will say that we have likely had more outdoor practice in this first week than we had last year in the first month.  As I walked into the CSU football practice facility the other night everything seemed to look out of place and or different for some reason.  When I thought about it I realized that last year there was about four or five feet of snow all around the green field rectangle and that made all of it look much smaller.

It was plenty frigid by about 8:00 when we stopped practice, however.  It’s not like we got a free trip to Florida or anything, but I am real excited to get these ‘bigger’ practices early on in the season.  As things are now going I might not be able to whine about the whole lack of practice situation this spring as much as usual, but I’m not worried because I will find something else to fret over and lament about.

THE MONSTER – or – THE NUT FALLS FAR FROM THE TREE

We (my actual family) went to the Monster Truck ‘show’ last night at the Budweiser Events Center here near Loveland.  For Jordan (8) this was apparently very close to being in heaven.  I am not able to say that for myself, but I do feel his joy and I am also grateful that someone told me to take earplugs.

None of my boys (sons) have shown much love for lacrosse.  I wonder what THAT means.  Have I not been the great role model?  Guess not.  It’s ‘all good’ and I want them to find their own way, but there were 4 year old kids out there last night racing dirt bikes and what not and I very much do NOT want to go there.  I am not going to go out and willfully buy my little boy a machine upon which he can possibly kill or maim himself.  Several people got their bodies pretty messed up last night in the various dirt pounding activities. He is going to have to really want that for a good long time before I budge an inch on this one.
