#2 Colorado State Blows Out Stanford 17-3
Colorado State University Men’s Lacrosse

By Alex Smith (970-377-1390)
March 14th, 2006

Palo Alto, CA - The #2 Colorado State Rams jumped all over the Stanford Cardinal by scoring four goals in the first seven minutes of the game and never looked back en route to a 17-3 win. Thirteen different Rams scored points in the victory as everyone on the travel squad got time in the game.

Junior attackman Danny Stevens (Suffern HS; Suffern, NY) and sophomore attackman Tyler Treece (Upper Arlington HS; Columbus, OH) both led the team with five points each. Stevens got his on two goals and three assists while Treece had three goals and two assists. Sophomore attackman Dylan Bowman (Fairview HS; Boulder, CO) pitched in with two goals and two assists as well.

With forty players on the travel squad, the team made every effort to get everyone in the game. Several freshmen made the most of their opportunity to play as midfielders Andy LeSavage (Fairview HS; Boulder, CO) and Pat Miller (Air Academy HS; Colorado Springs, CO) got their first extensive playing time as Rams. Defensive middies Jack Genadek (Roseville HS; Roseville, MN) and Lee Cates (Rangeview HS; Aurora, CO) both scored their first goals of the season as well.

Stanford goaltender Mike Zell played extremely well under heavy duress and finished the game with 19 saves, including nine in the first quarter. Pete Jokisch (Rockhurst Jesuit; Overland Park, KS) made eight stops in the first half before yielding to the rest of the CSU goaltenders. Kevin Choo led the Cardinal with two goals.

Colorado State (4-2) will now play nine straight games in Colorado after playing five of six in California to start the year. The Rams head for Spring Break for the rest of this week before returning to Fort Collins to play Missouri on Monday.

Game Notes:
- Colorado State now leads the all-time series with Stanford 5-0. The Rams defeated Stanford in the 2001 national championship game but have not faced the Cardinal since the 2002 season.
- Stevens continues to pace the Rams with 25 points.
- Pat Bird (Bishop O'Dowd HS; Oakland, CA) and Steve Lundberg (Cherry Creek HS; Englewood, CO) each scored two goals while Tyler Bue (La Costa Canyon HS; Encinitas, CA) added two assists.
