MAMA SAID THERE WOULD BE DAYS LIKE THIS

The day didn't start well and it basically got worse from there.  Something didn't feel right at 6:45 and it definitely don't feel that great right now as I try to pound something out and go to sleep.

We didn't deserve to win today.  We played fairly well at times, but without team passion. The chemistry, such as it was or wasn't from moment to moment, was not mixing us together into a positive overall solution to the problems the other team presented.  Therefore we had issues.

We made mistakes, but mostly and for the day I would say we didn't do a good job of finishing.  We couldn't finish many good scoring opportunities available and we couldn't finish the game, even though we had a 9-7 lead and some momentum late in the third quarter.

We screwed up our #3 tournament seed, the one that we worked so many years to get.  We did it in one game, and by losing to the #14 seed.  One thing for sure is that whatever the seeds the teams were fairly evenly matched as far as talent went and it was back and forth all game long.  It was not a #14 seed playing the game of their life to win or anything.  They had a different make-up from the team that earned #14, but they did celebrate like they had just won the Super Bowl when it was over.

The core of the Tap Room team has C.U. roots, so it was almost like playing them (C.U.) again, like there is no one else in the freaking world to get matched up against.  Oh well, I suppose you can't win them all.

In the end I think we played the old 'not-to-lose' game, and not the kung fu fighting for 60 minutes thing, the one resplendent with that you-will-have-to-kill-me type of team attitude that I like and admire so much.

EENYMEENY

As for myself it seems like I had no feel for 'driving' the team today.  I hadn't really been part of its selection and roster make-up as much as I might have, and I paid for that today by not using us as well as I am sure I could have.  I did go home right afterwards, however, and I stirred things around on a piece of paper.  I feel like I have a much better idea now, upon immediate post game reflection, of who I want to use when and what player might work a bit better with another on this team.  Hopefully I can help a little tomorrow by bringing that with me to the proceedings.  We already wasted one day as it has become.  We have the talent to do better, and the vision to get our team thoughts together better than we did today, but we do need to bring more drive right onto the field tomorrow.  I don't know exactly how to get that on the road.  Maybe I will say a prayer that they (team) will all 'pass out' early tonight, or that I get better by tomorrow at recognizing more quickly which ones are too messed up to help us.  Maybe I will just play the youngsters who are not yet twenty-one more.

I do know that to be successful we cannot rely on one or two, but rather we must gel, come together, mesh, fire on all cylinders. Musketeer it, and have some fun while we are at it.
