Colorado State Rolls Over Lindenwood, Ready for Playoffs
Fort Collins, CO

The #2 Colorado State Rams hosted their second and final
out of conference game on an absolutely beautiful Saturday afternoon when
the Lindenwood Lions made the trip from Missouri. While the crowd was
sparse and the weather picturesque, the Rams were not in a hospitable mood
as they held the visiting Lions to 7 total shots en route to a 25-1 victory.
Sixteen different Rams scored points in the effort despite the fact that
three of the Rams’ top scorers were not in uniform. Lindenwood’s zone
defense held the Rams at bay for the first few minutes of the first period,
but after Kelten Johnson (Bainbridge HS, WA) scored the first goal on an
unsettled situation, it was all CSU. The Rams got five first quarter goals,
including two from Thomas Robinson (Memphis University School, TN) within
two minutes at the end of the period. Robinson’s two goals were identical,
both coming on feeds from Tim Farquhar (Collegiate HS, VA).
The Rams had four different players register at least five points or more.
Johnson had three goals and three assists and Farquhar had two goals and
three assists. Two of CSU’s younger attackmen got in the scorebook in a big
way as well. Matt Reiss (Sycamore HS, OH) had four points in the second
quarter alone as he notched three goals and three assists while Dan Stevens
(Suffern HS, NY) led all scorers with three goals and four assists.
In addition to the prolific scoring by some of CSU’s big guns, some of the
younger players got in the act as well. Adam Schnirel (Mt. Lebanon HS, PA),
Andrew Zimmerman (Algonquin HS, MA), Ty Hartman (Douglas County HS, CO) and
Louis Janke (Wheatridge HS, CO) all registered their first career goals in
the win.
Colorado State (19-1 overall, 4-0 RMLC) has now concluded their regular
season and will start their playoff push this weekend. The Rams are seeded
1st in the RMLC tournament and will take on the 4th seeded and #19 Utah Utes
in a rematch of CSU’s 19-4 victory in Fort Collins in March. The BYU
Cougars and CU Buffaloes will meet in the other RMLC semifinal.
Game Notes:
- Colorado State has now played 20 games this spring. In 2003, the Rams
played 20 total games, including playoffs and went 18-2.
- Janke’s goal was the first of his lacrosse career. Janke is currently in
his first ever year playing lacrosse for Colorado State.
- Kelten Johnson’s six point effort was good enough to give him the RMLC
regular season scoring title with 31 goals and 42 assists. He finished the
regular season with 73 points, three better than Utah State’s Kyle Fiat.
- Everyone on CSU’s active roster saw game time in the victory.
- Colorado State held the Lions scoreless for the first 48:38 before Jim
Lange scored for Lindenwood.
